When should you book mobile diagnostics?

Modern vehicles rely on dozens of interconnected electronic control modules (ECUs). Diagnostics is needed when:

Common signs

  • Check Engine Light (MIL), ABS, Traction Control, Airbag, or EPC light illuminated
  • Vehicle has entered 'Limp Home Mode' (reduced engine power and capped revs)
  • Intermittent running issues, engine misfires, stuttering under acceleration, or erratic idling
  • DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) soot warning or AdBlue system fault on dash
  • Vehicle failed MOT on exhaust emissions or warning lights

Urgent signs

  • Car or van turns over but will not start (Non-start condition)
  • Battery light showing or electrical systems shutting down while driving
  • Frequent battery drain leaving the vehicle dead overnight

AVOID GUESSWORK: Replacing expensive sensors or components based purely on a generic OBD code reader often wastes hundreds of pounds. Our diagnostic service identifies the ROOT CAUSE — whether it's wiring corrosion, blown fuses, boost leaks, or sensor failure.

Plain-English explanation

The difference between basic code reading & real diagnostics

A basic code scan only tells you what symptom a sensor reported (e.g. 'P0101 - Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Range'). It does NOT tell you WHY that code was logged.

That code could be caused by a faulty sensor, a split boost hose downstream, corroded wiring connectors, a blown fuse, or a vacuum leak. Blindly replacing the MAF sensor will not fix a split rubber hose!

ADL Mobile Diagnostics combines top-tier professional scan tools (AUTEL / Snap-on / Launch) with live data logging, component actuation tests, smoke testing for vacuum leaks, and multimeter electrical pin testing.

We pinpoint the exact failing part or electrical fault, present the diagnostic findings clearly, and quote for the fix — so you pay only for what actually needs repairing.

Vehicle-specific note: Compatible with modern vehicles (OBD-II standard) including Ford, Vauxhall, Renault, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Peugeot, Citroen, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, and commercial vans.

The issue. Check engine light, vehicle in limp mode (max 2000 RPM), previous garage recommended £800 DPF replacement.

What Aaron did. Mobile diagnostic scan revealed DPF was fine — cause was a split £35 rubber intercooler hose leaking boost pressure.

The result. Replaced split intercooler hose on site, cleared fault codes, performed forced regen. Saved customer over £700!

Another garage wanted to charge me £800 for a new DPF. Aaron ran a proper diagnostic check in Shrewsbury and found a simple split hose. Fixed it in 30 minutes. Top man!
